Hi there strong people! I’m Julie, Jewels, Julinator, Julianna. Welcome to my website, where you will find anything from my mother’s authentic Mexican recipes “paleo-fied”, to workouts that can be done anywhere. I started this blog to have a place for my friends and family to find healthy recipes and fun workouts. Eventually, I would love to reach a larger audience and inspire them with my take on all things healthy!
What does “JewelStrong” mean?
I have put a lot of thought into trying to define the idea of what JewelStrong means BUT at the end of the day, I want to empower you all to figure out what strength means to YOU. Here is what I think:
Eating healthy to improve your health, not to “look” a certain way. For many years I restricted my calorie intake while having the lowest self-esteem ever. Food is so much more than calories. It is fuel. It affects more than just your weight such as sleep, hormones, your workouts, and energy-levels to name a few. I was OBSESSED with 100 calorie packs…remember those? What I didn’t realize was the quality of the foods you eat is much more important. You simply cannot argue against real, whole, nutrient dense foods.
Workout because you love your body. I had a subscription to Shape Magazine where I was constantly being shown ways to shed the “extra pounds” and have long lean legs. I spent hours on cardio machines trying to burn as many calories as I could. It wasn’t until I started weightlifting and CrossFit that I started to focus on what my body could do versus what it looked like. I do active things that I enjoy and that make me happy, which brings me to my next point.
Do things that make you feel happy.
This can be by actually enjoying your workouts. If you hate the elliptical, then don’t go on the elliptical! If going on a walk to your favorite park makes you happy, DO THAT!

- Married for over 5 years to one of the best humans I know!
- I have an English Bull Terrier named Arne who is my World.
- Family is really important to me, I love spending time with them.
- I am a P.E. teacher for K-4 students! I also work as a coach and Personal Trainer at Newton’s Law of Fitness.
- I once ran in a 100k relay where my leg was about 5.6 miles (longest ever) …never again!
- LOVE traveling.
- One of my favorite things to do is go on long walks while listening to a good podcast.
- I used to hate cooking.
Julie is a certified personal trainer (ACE), CrossFit L-1 Coach and USA Weightlifting Certified Sports Performance Coach. She holds a Master’s Degree from Gonzaga University in Sport and Athletic Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree from Sonoma State University in Women and Gender Studies.
